Late to the Party

In my defense, I'm only late to the party because I wanted to wait to post the news on the usual blog day. But my team and I just published our work assessing the influence of wastewater treatment plants and water input sources on microplastic composition in the St. Andrew Bay system. This work is complementary to work we previously published on the abundance of microplastics in the system, and provides more evidence to support our claim that damages to one of the treatment plants in the system caused increased microplastics loading in the sediment. The work, published in Marine Pollution Bulletin (and accessible by clicking here), is the third manuscript I've published during my PhD, and I'm really happy with the research that I've accomplished, of course supported by the wonderful Dr. Jeroen Ingels. If you'd like to read a short blurb about it, the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory also featured my work this week in a news update here.
