A Quiet Week

Unfortunately for the blog, but fortunately for me, this week was really quiet, which I think is how all finals weeks in school should be. Although I am so ready to start my summer work and continue the research that I have been doing, I also realize that it is important to take a step back and relax a bit. This week I have had more down time than I think I've had since starting my PhD program, which feels really nice. Because I have been processing more microplastics samples at the lab this week, I don't have much in the way of updates, but I will be going out for a sampling trip on Monday, so expect a big update next week.

Instead, I want to highlight some really amazing work done by my advisor, Dr. Ingels. Dr. Ingels is a lead author for a chapter and a co-author of a second chapter for the UN's second world ocean assessment. The UN world ocean assessment is a combined effort by UN member states to update the world on the health and status of the marine environment, from estuaries and coastal systems to the deep sea, which is Dr. Ingels' speciality. The publication was released today, and you can read all about it at https://www.un.org/regularprocess/woa2launch if you are interested.
